I’ve always been a music lover

My passion for DJing started when I was around 15 years old, but my musical journey began much sooner. I’d always been a music lover - playing guitar throughout my childhood, performing in bands, and constantly reading music magazines.

While my roots were in rock, I discovered electronic music in 2010 with the rise of artists like Skrillex, Deadmau5, and Crystal Castles, who inspired me to dive into production and DJing.

I got my first DJ ‘controller’ at 15. It was a second-hand, all-in-one unit, pretty disgusting by today's standards, but it got the job done. With no sync button or effects - just horrible EQs and basic faders - I think learning on such primitive decks gave me a solid technical foundation.

I spent my teenage years DJing at house parties, which is where I really developed my techniques and got bitten by the vinyl bug.

I'd push records to the club in a shopping cart

In 2014, I moved to Bristol to study audio engineering at dBs Bristol University, which exposed me to a fascinating and diverse music scene. It was an exhilarating time. I became part of the music community and earned a reputation for explorative vinyl sets.

Soon, I was playing local radio shows and parties, eventually landing a residency at a central club. Because I was DJing vinyl, didn't drive, and was too broke for a taxi, I used to push a crate of records across town in a shopping trolley, which I’d then lock to a lamppost with a bike lock.

During this time, I founded a small record label, Arkrecords, to release my own music and tracks from other artists. I started an online radio stream with my housemates, worked on numerous projects as a music producer/engineer, launched an audio production company, and worked in the office of the local Ujima Radio Station.

When the COVID lockdowns hit, I put a pause on my DJing career and started focusing more on production and writing. I landed fantastic writing jobs for music websites like Audio Assemble, Loopcloud, VinylIQ, Really SimpleGuitar, Dear Reality.

In 2023, I joined the DJ.Studio team to write and manage their blog before the project went fully public. This really helped me to dive deep intop building blogs for DJ software. In 2025, I joined the PulseDJ team.

My latest and most ambitious project is the development of a new 3D audio software, audiocube.app.

This venture is the culmination of my entire journey through DJing, audio engineering, and music production. It's my mission to build an intuitive tool that unlocks the power of spatial sound for creators everywhere.
